DETROIT (WWJ) -- A woman was killed in a crash Sunday night along eastbound I-94 in Detroit.
According to Michigan State Police, at around 10:25 p.m. on Feb. 23, a 27-year-old Detroit man was driving in the left lane of I-94, near Chene St., when he lost control of his Nissan Sentra and hit a concrete wall. The car didn't stop there, then crossing all lanes and hitting the other wall.
The front-sear passenger, a 28-year-old Detroit woman, was killed.
MSP said the driver told investigators that his passenger had been drinking. They got into an argument, he said, and she grabbed the steering wheel before the crash.
Two young children, ages 1 and 2, were also in the car. Police said the kids were taken to a local hospital for treatment, but did not say how badly they may have been injured.
Police said both children were restrained in the vehicle, but noted that neither of the adults was wearing a seat belt.
While the investigation is ongoing, MSP said the driver is not suspected of drinking or using drugs before the crash.
"Troopers still have some investigation to complete on this crash," said First Lt. Mike Shaw, in a statement. "We want to remind drivers and passengers to wear their seat belts anytime they get in the vehicle."
No names were released.
