DETROIT (WWJ) – A young child has been mauled to death by a dog on the city's west side.
Many details surrounding the incident remain unclear, but Detroit police officials tell WWJ it happened on Pierson Road, near Rouge Park as the boy was playing in the backyard.
Police officials tell WWJ the boy was 4 years old.
Two dogs have been captured but police are still working to determine whether both were involved in the attack. The breeds were not confirmed, but police believe they may have been pit bulls.
While animal control crews had been called to the scene, it was not clear who captured the dogs, or when and where they were caught.
