Police say high winds caused a sand or dust storm, which impaired visibility on the roadway. Multiple ground and air ambulances transported victims to area hospitals. Several people were in critical condition.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Cameron Rhoden told KUTV News that children are among those killed in the crash. Five of the seven victims were in one vehicle. The other two victims were in another vehicle.

Images of the crash scene show multiple semi-trucks and several damaged vehicles, with debris scattered for yards.
