Glenda Parton, an 80-year-old Oklahoma woman, was looking for her missing 59-year-old son Dwayne Selby on Oct. 25 when she also vanished, according to authorities.
According to an alert issued by the Tulsa County Sherriff’s Office, Selby was last seen Oct. 22. He was believed to be with his friend, 76-year-old Jack Grimes of Turley, Okla., on the way to a Fort Worth, Tex., horse show in Grimes’ 2001 maroon Ford Taurus, said police.
Grimes, a diabetic on medication, would typically call family to let them know he had arrived to a horse show, said the sheriff’s office. This time, he didn’t call. In fact, nobody was able to reach Grimes or Selby after Friday.
The men were expected to return home from the show on Oct.
25, but they never showed up.
By that time, Parton was in Turley to look for her son. She was last seen there at 8 p.m. Oct. 25. Her red 2016 Kia Rio was found on the side of the road on Highway 75 near 56th Street exit as of Oct. 27, said an alert from the Pryor Creek Police Department.
The Tulsa County Sherriff’s interviewed an unnamed “person of interest” related to Parton’s disappearance. Parton was seen on video Monday evening, just before she disappeared, at a business with the person, identified by police as a man with dark hair and a baseball cap.
Tulsa County authorities said hunters found human remains in a tree line at 2045 E 59th Place North in Turley the morning of Oct. 31. On Tuesday, the sheriff’s office announced that the medical examiner had identified the remains as Grimes and ruled the cause of death a homicide.
Authorities had not released a more specific cause. If anyone in the area near where the body was found thinks they see evidence related to the case, they should contact police immediately.
Selby and Parton are still missing, according to authorities.
“We are currently searching the area where Jack’s remains were found for additional victims,” with cadaver dogs, Tulsa Country Sheriff Vic Regalado said Tuesday. “We cannot rule out the possibility that Glenda or Dwayne have also met with foul play.”
He said that Jack and Dwayne lived together and that Grimes, Selby and Parton were connected through the horse business.
Authorities are still in early stages of the investigation, Regalado said. Anyone with information that could help find them should contact the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office.
Any information could be important and that even “trivial” information might help break open a case, Regalado added. He also asked people to avoid spreading misinformation or theories on social media, as it could make it difficult for police to solve the case.
