Driver going the wrong way on the Lodge causes crash, is critically injured

A wrong-way car crash on the Lodge Freeway in Detroit has left at least one person critically injured, according to State Police.

The at-fault driver was traveling in the southbound lanes of M-10, of north I-94, when they hit another vehicle head-on. The at-fault driver is the one who was critically hurt, while the person in the other car was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators are now working to determine why and how the person got on the freeway the wrong way. They are also working to find out if alcohol was involved or not.

This was one of two wrong-way crashes over the weekend in Detroit. In the other, State Police said a woman on a motorcycle was killed by a driver driving the wrong direction on I-94, early Saturday.
