Exiled Afghan president's daughter living in Brooklyn as an artist: report

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The daughter of Afghanistan’s exiled President Ashraf Ghani lives in Brooklyn, according to a report.

Mariam Ghani, 42, lives in a “luxury co-op” near the Pratt Institute in Clinton Hill, the New York Post reported.

A Post reporter knocked on her door and attempted to speak to her while a camera person filmed on Tuesday, but she closed the door, a video posted by the outlet shows.

Mariam Ghani, who was born in Brooklyn and grew up in Maryland, works as a visual artist and filmmaker, the outlet reported.

Her father is currently in the United Arab Emirates amid the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, the UAE confirmed Wednesday. Ghani posted about her situation on Facebook, where she shared a list of resources in an Instagram post that individuals and activists can use to help Afghanistan’s citizens. She also thanked those who expressed solidarity with her.

“To everyone who has checked in and reached out in solidarity over the past days: thank you,” Ms Ghani said in the post. “It has meant a lot. I’m pretty burned out, but I hope I’ll be able to reply to you all individually at some point,” she added.
