A chaotic scene at 33rd and Portland in South Minneapolis where there are an ICE agent shot and killed a woman in her car.

A new update from the Department of Homeland Security just confirmed the woman is dead. There were no injuries to law enforcement reported.

"Today, ICE officers in Minneapolis were conducting targeted operations when rioters began blocking ICE officers and one of these violent rioters weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them—an act of domestic terrorism. An ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots. He used his training and saved his own life and that of his fellow officers. The alleged perpetrator was hit and is deceased. The ICE officers who were hurt are expected to make full recoveries. This is the direct consequence of constant attacks and demonization of our officers by sanctuary politicians who fuel and encourage rampant assaults on our law enforcement who are facing 1,300% increase in assaults against them and an 8,000% increase in death threats. This is an evolving situation, and we will give the public more information as soon as it becomes available.

In a press conference with Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara, a very angry Minneapolis Mayor, Jacob Frey, called the recap from DHS "bullsh*t." He then told ICE to "get the f*** out of Minneapolis".

The mayor is also calling for full investigation into Wednesday's shooting and called the still unnamed woman a US citizen.

There's no word yet on exactly what happened, but it's believed that a woman was fleeing federal agents.

Minnesota U.S. Senator just posted on social media, saying the woman that was shot is a U.S. citizen.

"A US citizen has apparently been shot by ICE agents in Minneapolis," Smith said. "I’m gathering information, but the situation on the ground is volatile. ICE should leave now for everyone’s safety. Please be safe Minneapolis."

KSTP-TV also posted a video from the scene showing the woman driving away from officers when one opens fire. (Warning: Graphic)

"I am aware of a shooting involving an ICE agent at 34th Street & Portland," Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said on X. "The presence of federal immigration enforcement agents is causing chaos in our city. We’re demanding ICE to leave the city immediately. We stand rock solid with our immigrant and refugee communities."

Gov. Tim Walz also shared a message on social media.

"My public safety team is working to gather information on an ICE related shooting this morning," Walz wrote. "We will share information as we learn more. In the meantime, I ask folks to remain calm."

From Minnesota U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar:

"My team is gathering information about the ICE-related shooting this morning in Minneapolis," she said. I’ll share updates as they are available. Please stay safe."

Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty released the following statement:

“We’re aware of the shooting at 34th and Portland," Moriarty said. "We have been in contact with law enforcement leaders, the Attorney General, and the Governor’s Office throughout the morning and are pushing hard for a local investigation which is the only way to ensure full transparency and review by our office. We will use every available lever to ensure a local, transparent investigation takes place.”

From Minnesota U.S. Rep. Angie Craig:

"I am closely monitoring reports of an ICE related shooting in South Minneapolis this morning. Nothing is more important than keeping Minnesotans safe. I am doing everything I can to get answers, ensure public safety and protect First Amendment rights."

One woman shared what she had learned at the scene.

"And the one guy said that she, they reached for her door handle, and then she took off. And then he shot her through the windshield and shot her in the face," the woman described.

The area where the shooting occurred is a modest neighborhood south of downtown Minneapolis, just a few blocks from some of the oldest immigrant markets in the area and a mile (1.6 kilometers) from where George Floyd was killed by police in 2020.

The Department of Homeland Security said Tuesday that it had launched an extraordinary immigration enforcement operation, with 2,000 agents and officers expected in the Minneapolis and St. Paul area for a crackdown tied in part to allegations of fraud involving Somali residents.

The Immigration Defense Network, a coalition of groups serving immigrants in Minnesota, held a training session Tuesday night for about 100 people who are willing to hit the streets to monitor the federal enforcement.
