Police in Tennessee are now on a recovery mission for a newborn baby after the girl's 27-year-old mother was found shot to death.
The suspect, Brandon Isabelle, reportedly confessed to killing 2-day-old Kennedy Hoyle and her mother Danielle Hoyle, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal.
Isabelle, 25, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of two counts of first-degree murder, murder in perpetration of aggravated kidnapping, especially aggravated kidnapping, and tampering with evidence.
Isabelle allegedly told police he shot Danielle Hoyle to death Tuesday night after luring her to an area in Memphis. He claims he then took Kennedy, his daughter, and tossed her into the Mississippi River near the Upper Mud Island Boat Ramp, the Memphis Commercial Appeal reported.
Police located Danielle Hoyle's body next to her vehicle on the side of the road, but Kennedy was nowhere to be found. The situation triggered a statewide Amber Alert.
Memphis Police said Wednesday night that investigators do not believe they will find Kennedy alive.
"Kennedy Hoyle has not been located; however, evidence suggests that she is deceased," police said in a statement.
Dive teams have searched the area, but have not yet located Kennedy's body.
The search to recover her remains will continue, police said.
