A school administrator in Indiana who went viral for explaining how critical race theory is covertly taught in schools shared that he was placed on leave, had his email access removed, and was banned from entering school buildings.
Tony Kinnett, a science coordinator for the Indianapolis Public Schools, shared a video on Twitter earlier this month talking about CRT. In the tweet, he accused the school system of lying about CRT and how it is taught in schools.
The video has been viewed more than half a million times, and in it, Kinnett claims that school administrators use "misdirection" to throw off parents concerned about CRT being taught to their children.
Kinnet spoke with the New York Post and shared that he has been on leave with pay since he posted the video on Nov. 4.
The school's HR has warned him twice since Nov. 4 that he would have to "part ways" with the district if he kept acting as a "whistleblower," Kinnet told the Post.
He added that he was told his coworkers had "clinical anxiety" from working with him after he posted the video.
Kinnet has continued to share on Twitter that the district is not being "transparent," criticizing them and offering an "inside look" into the district.
Now he has been banned from entering any school district buildings, and on Wednesday, he had his access to school accounts shut off without warning.
The information released was located on a public server, Kinnet said, and he denied releasing any private data.
Even without access to his email or the server, Kinnet said he has already downloaded "racist documents and videos" and that he plans to release them at some point, the Post reported.
"Parents have a right to know the district's approach to curriculum and pedagogy, so they might make the best decision in where to send their kids," he said to the Post.
While Kinnet says that CRT is not in the state's curriculum yet, he says there is a difference in how students of color and white students are treated.
"We don't have the quotes and theories in state standards per se… We do have CRT in how we teach. We tell our teachers to treat our students differently based on color."
He continued saying, "We tell our students that every problem is a result of white men. And that everything western civilization built is racist. That capitalism is a tool of white supremacy. This is in math, history, science, the arts, and it's not slowing down."
