In a dramatic turn of events during President Donald Trump's speech before Congress last night, Democratic Representative Al Green of Texas was forcibly removed from the House chamber after repeatedly interrupting the President's speech. The incident occurred early in the address when Green stood up and began shouting at Trump, accusing him of lacking a mandate to cut Medicaid.
Despite warnings from House Speaker Mike Johnson to maintain decorum, Green continued his protest, waving his cane and refusing to sit down. The disruption prompted Johnson to call for the House sergeant at arms to restore order and remove Green from the chamber. As Green was escorted out, Republican lawmakers chanted "USA! USA!" and "Hey, hey, hey, goodbye".
Outside the chamber, Green defended his actions, stating that he could not remain silent in the face of policies he believed would harm vulnerable Americans. He emphasized his commitment to holding the President accountable and vowed to continue his efforts to impeach Trump.
The incident was part of a broader display of protest and dissent among Democratic lawmakers, many of whom wore symbolic attire and held signs to express their opposition to Trump's policies. The State of the Union address, which lasted over an hour, was marked by moments of tension and division, reflecting the deep political rifts within the country.
