For a few years, the Lions had one of the best slot receivers in the NFL in Golden Tate. It looks like they have another in Amon-Ra St. Brown.

The former fourth-round pick wrote his name into the record books Sunday in Detroit's win over Washington when he became the first player in NFL history to produce at least eight catches and a touchdown in six straight games. He also tied an NFL record, shared by Antonio Brown and Michael Thomas, with eight straight games of at least eight catches.

Through the first two weeks of the season, St. Brown has 17 catches for 180 yards and three touchdowns, plus 68 rushing yards for good measure. His rise hasn't been lost on Tate, who called St. Brown an up-and-coming star if he's not already considered one, via Twitter after Sunday's game.

"Means a lot coming from you," said St. Brown.

Tate had four straight 90-catch seasons for the Lions from 2014-17, during which time he produced over 4,000 receiving yards and led the NFL in yards after catch. St. Brown, who put up 90 catches as a rookie, is determined to increase his YAC numbers in year two as he continues his takeover in Detroit.

"One thing I've focused on is after the catch, going crazy, making guys miss, scoring, doing whatever it takes to get in that end zone every time I touch it," St. Brown said in training camp.

He's off to a good start.
