Allen Robinson II is a free agent, and likely high on Jets’ fans wish list – but on Tuesday, he apparently broke some free agent news regarding another NYC squad?
Robinson Tweeted on Tuesday that “according to sources, Andre Drummond will be signing with the Nets,” and that Drummond will give Brooklyn “some reinforcement on the defensive end and the glass.”
He also noted to look for the Nets to “still be active around the trade deadline LOL,” but adding Drummond – likely on the mid-level veteran exception – would leave Brooklyn with just one roster spot and very little cap room to work with, and give them a sudden glut of bigs with the additions of Drummond and Blake Griffin and the return of Nic Claxton.
Drummond has been mentioned as a possible Nets target, but the other issue with Robinson’s Tweet is that as of it being sent, Drummond was still a Cleveland Cavalier, yet to be bought out or traded by Cleveland prior to the second half of the NBA season tipping off. Not only that, but Robinson is known to be a jokester on Twitter, so this could be, to co-opt a phrase, Allen being Allen.
Still, we can all dream of seeing Drummond, a Mount Vernon native and former UConn star, plying his trade on the hardwood of the Big Apple.
