The Tigers will have two representatives in the Futures Game at MLB's All-Star weekend in Seattle. Both are hitters on the doorstep of Detroit.
One, Colt Keith, was promoted Monday to Triple-A Toledo after tearing the cover off the ball for the first three months of the season in Double-A. Keith, 21, is now the Tigers' top-ranked prospect and one of the top 30 prospects in baseball according to Baseball America. He ranked second in the Eastern League with a .585 slugging percentage.
The other, Justyn-Henry Malloy, has been in Toledo for duration of the year after the Tigers acquired him from the Braves in the Joe Jimenez trade. The 23-year-old has cooled off since a scalding start, but still boasts an .820 OPS and ranks fourth in the International League with 49 walks. He's the Tigers' No. 7 prospect per MLB Pipeline.
The Futures Game will be played Saturday, July 8 at 7 p.m., airing exclusively on Peacock, and will feature five of baseball's top 10 prospects according to MLB Pipeline, including top-ranked shortstop Jackson Holliday of the Orioles.
