Jacob Berry has only been in Louisiana for one season, but his lookalike has a much more prominent resume in the state.

That is, of course, legendary Saints quarterback Drew Brees, who shares striking similarities with the LSU third baseman. Even Berry's dad, Perry, agrees that the likeness is bizarre -- because he doesn't really look like the retired quarterback.

"If I'm not [Jacob's] dad," Perry joked to WAFB reporter Jacques Doucet, "then Drew Brees needs to start picking up his food bill."

Perry said he's heard about the likeness of his son from all over throughout the season. LSU even pointed it out when Brees made an appearance at Alex Box Stadium to throw out the first pitch and lead the team in a pregame hype speech.

“It’s crazy how similar they look," Perry continued. "It’s unbelievable.”

Berry arrived at LSU this season as a transfer, following head coach Jay Johnson from Arizona. He wasted no time showing off the skillset that will likely lead to him being a top-end MLB draft pick in the not-so-distant future, batting .400 in SEC play as a key part of LSU's dynamic offensive attack co-championed by superstar Dylan Crews.

The sophomore has been battling a finger injury in the latter portion of the season that kept him out of the SEC Tournament, but he's returned to the lineup for what has been a thrilling first two days of the Hattiesburg Regional. The Tigers notched their biggest ever NCAA Tournament comeback, rallying from 11-4 down to defeat Kennesaw State in the opener. Then the Tigers pulled off another stunning comeback a day later when it made up a four-run deficit in the 9th inning and defeated host Southern Miss in extra innings.

LSU is now one victory away from a second Super Regional trip in as many years, and will face the winner of the Southern Miss-Kennesaw State matchup on Saturday evening.
