Malik Beasley has been cleared, and could be returning to the Pistons.

Beasley is no longer a target of the federal gambling probe that placed him under investigation earlier this offseason and derailed a reported free-agent agreement that he had in place with the Pistons.

His attorneys confirmed the new Friday, telling ESPN that after extensive conversations with the Eastern District of New York, Beasley, who was alleged to have gambled on NBA games and prop bets during the 2023-24 season as a member of the Milwaukee Bucks, is not being considered the target of the investigation.

"Months after this investigation commenced, Malik remains uncharged and is not the target of this investigation," said his attorneys. "An allegation with no charge, indictment or conviction should never have the catastrophic consequence this has caused Malik. This has literally been the opposite of the presumption of innocence."

After hitting the most three-pointers in the East and finishing second for the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year award last season to help the Pistons back to the playoffs, Beasley was reportedly set to sign a three-year, $42 million deal to stay in Detroit. But the Pistons tabled the offer after becoming aware of the investigation.

While they've since spent a chunk of that money to bring in the likes of Duncan Robinson and Caris LeVert, the Pistons still have the cap space and the roster spot to accommodate Beasley, who played in all 82 games last season and finished second on the team in scoring with 16.3 points per game.

Beasley, 28, is already said to have multiple suitors on the free agent market.
