After eight games, the second Darren Fells era in Detroit is reportedly over. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the team has obliged Fells after the tight end requested a release:
Fells signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Lions back in May, and the veteran tight appeared in seven games (five starts) with only four receptions for 43 yards this season. Questions about his future in Detroit arose after Fells was inactive for the Lions' Week 8 game against the Eagles despite not being listed on the injury report all week. He was placed on waivers Monday and will be eligible to sign with a team on Tuesday.
