
New Orleans Police say a 13-year-old boy was shot in the St. Claude neighborhood Saturday afternoon.
Police found the young boy with an apparent gunshot wound to the chest in the in the 2700 block of North Miro Street near Almonaster Avenue in the Fifth District.
It happened about 4 p.m.
Family members of the unnamed boy told WWL-TV that he's "doing okay."
The victim's brother, Khaliq Williams, said their sister and a group of people were walking with the boy from a store on Almonaster Avenue when the shooting occurred.
The victim said a group of subjects were walking behind him and began screaming at him. One of the subjects pulled out a gun and fired four to five shots at the victim.
The victim was shot one time as he ran away.
His brother said this was the second time the young boy had been shot.
