New Orleans firefighters responded to a 5-alarm fire at Le Meridien hotel on the corner of Poydras and Tchoupitoulas.

Firefighters responded to the alarm Sunday afternoon and upgraded it later on.

The hotel has been evacuated.

At least four firefighters sustained injuries from smoke inhalation.  The firemen were treated on site, according to officials.  There were no reports of injuries to any guests.

Le Meridien officials, said the 410 room hotel was at 95 percent capacity, said guests would not be able to stay in the building tonight.

Hospitality employees were working with guests to set up accommodations as the fire came under control.

Poydras street was shut down between Tchoupitoulas and South Peters Streets.

Firefighters, ambulances and EMS were all on the scene.
