67 new cases of coronavirus reported from overnight tests in Louisiana

Louisiana health officials are reporting 67 new cases of coronavirus today.

Authorities say 347 tests have come back positive as of 9:30am today.  That number was 280 on Wednesday night.


The Louisiana Department of Health reported an eighth death related to COVID-19 late Wednesday. The 60-year-old individual was a St. James Parish resident.  Parish officials say the patient had underlying health issues.  There is one death in Jefferson Parish and six in New Orleans.

Everyone is warned to take the necessary precautions to help limit the spread of COVID-19 and stay safe and healthy.

These precautions include:

  • Washing your hands for at least 20 seconds and frequently
  • Covering your cough or sneeze with your arm
  • Avoiding touching your face
  • Routinely cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces
  • Avoiding close contact with others
  • And staying home if you are sick
