An impromptu memorial has formed at the site where a woman was killed by a parade float.
It happened last night Uptown on Magazine Street during the Nyx parade. Witnesses say a woman tried to cross between a tandem float, float 21, and tripped over the steel hitch connecting the two halves. The back half of the tandem float ran her over killing her instantly. The floats ahead of the accident paraded on, but the rest of the 44 float parade was not allowed to continue. A few marching bands were diverted to go around the accident scene. The Orleans Parish coroner has not yet released the identity of the woman.
