A violent 24 hours in New Orleans after four separate shootings injured eight people.

In New Orleans East, NOPD investigates a double shooting on Chef Menteur Highway. It happened about 12:50 a.m. Wednesday morning in the 8500 block according to police. The two victims were taken to the hospital in two separate private vehicles. Their condition is unknown.


Also in New Orleans East, three men were shot about 9:40 p.m. Wednesday night in the 3700 block of Downman Road NOPD said. One was shot in the shoulder and the other was shot in the elbow and foot. Both victims were taken to the hospital by a private vehicle. The third victim later shows up at the hospital with a gunshot wound to his foot. Police believe this shooting incident is separate from the earlier shooting on Chef Menteur Highway.

Over in the Lower 9th Ward two people were shot around 5:20 p.m. at the intersection of North Claiborne Avenue and Tupelo Street. They were taken to the hospital by EMS. Their condition is not known at this time.

And a woman was shot in the leg near Dillard University. Police say it happened in the 3900 block of Pauger Street around 5:15 p.m. Wednesday. She was taken to the hospital by EMS.
