The town of Abita Springs is advising its residents to boil tap water before consuming it. The city says it is due to "an issue at the well site."

Samples were collected this morning for testing by the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality. The city estimates the boil advisory will last 48 hours.

"You are advised to boil water for consumption only one (1) full minute after it has been brought to a rolling boil," according to the news release from Mayor Dan Curtis' office.
