Tests on waters sampled taken after a loss in pressure in Algiers came back negative, allowing officials to cancel the boil advisory for the Westbank of Orleans Parish.

"Bacteriological tests confirmed that water in the area was safe to drink and could be used for personal needs," according to the Sewerage and Water Board's announcement. "Water samples from across the area have tested negative for contamination."

The advisory came out Monday afternoon after water pressure dropped below 20 pounds per square inch. The loss in pressure happened as workers were making repairs to a water line under Mardi Gras Boulevard.
