The Crescent City is preparing to receive a lot of visitors this spring. April kicks off a busy time for New Orleans.

"This is New Orleans' sweet spot," said New Orleans Tourism and Marketing Corporation president Mark Romig.

"We are in festival season," Romig said. " We've got iconic festivals coming together."

French Quarter festival will bring in major crowds.

"French Quarter Festival 's probably a favorite among the regional drive market," said Romig, a growing and important segment of the tourism economy. "A lot of people will come in for the day, spend the day with the festival, then they'll head back home."

Romig says many more will check in to hotels and make a weekend out of it.

Later in the month, there's the PGA tour stopping in New Orleans for the Zurich Classic, and the kickoff of the 50th annual Jazz Fest.

And by the middle of next month, New Orleans tourism industry looks to benefit from the long-awaited opening of the new airport terminal.
