The Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans today announced that mass will be canceled effective immediately, although priests may still celebrate mass privately.

Archbishop Gregory Aymond said they are also canceling Wednesday night confessions for the next three weeks.

"Stations of the Cross and any other gatherings for prayer must also be canceled," said the archbishop. "All St. Joseph Altars that have not already been canceled or postponed must cancel as of today."
