In just under two weeks, New Orleans will have a new front door for air travelers. The new Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport held an open house Thursday to get a look.
"Oh, it' huge," one visitor said. "It's very innovative."
"Seems like it's going to be a nice place to visit, when you're waiting to travel," another said.
With just under two weeks until flights begin leaving and arriving here on this side of the airfield, most of the airport and its ticketing and concession areas are ready to go, with a few others nearing completion.
Finishing touches are still being put on a lot of the airport's features, but some vendors will tell you they could open now.
"We're ready today!" said Cecile Tanguis, owner NOLA Couture. Her shop has a location in concourse C, and it's collection of neckties, bow ties, shirts, and accessories are all laid out and ready to go, just like many of the other vendors. Others are just a few steps away from being done.
"Everything seems to be coming together very quickly at the end," Tanguis said.
The airport is having another open house on Saturday. Click here for more information.
