Arnaud’s restaurant donates teddy bears to NOPD for their 6th Annual Teddy Bear Program.
Arnaud’s co-founder Katy Casbarian says the restaurant donated 3,286 bears to Superintendent Shaun Ferguson and the New Orleans Police department.
The teddy bears will be placed in NOPD vehicles for officers to distribute to children they encounter on duty who have been traumatized by a tragedy or victimized by crime.
“We unfortunately know that children in this community are all too often, the victims or witnesses of the violence we have in the city,” said Casbarian. “We just thought that equipping the first responders with an additional tool to connect with, or comfort, or calm children at those terrible times can be very impactful and a wonderful thing.”
Casbarian says since the program began in 2014, just over 9,000 teddy bears have been donated to the police department.
