Audubon Aquarium of the Americas set to reopen in N.O.

Audubon Aquarium of the Americas re-opens to the public after close for four months because of COVID-19 restrictions.

The re-open date is Thursday July 16.

During the shutdown, the aquarium says Audubon Nature Institute staff members continued to care for the marine wildlife at the aquarium.

The aquarium will open under new coronavirus guidlines with the health and safety of staff and visitors in mind. Guests can only book reservations online, including Audubon Members. The number of people inside will be restricted according to city mandates and social distancing will be in effect.

"We are an organization built on hope and our ability to overcome seemingly insurmountable odds," said Audubon President and CEO Ron Forman. "Over the years, the Audubon has made historic comebacks, resurrecting a neglected Zoo to a world-class facility and rebuilding from the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina. Our response to this challenge will be no exception. Together, we will get through this and come out the other side stronger than ever."

When it reopens, the Aquarium of the Americas will be open Thursday – Monday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
