Nearly seven months after biting through metal and escaping an enclosure at the Audubon Zoo, Valerio the jaguar will return to his now-fortified living space.
The big cat escaped Saturday, July 14, before the zoo opened. No humans were injured but the jaguar attacked nine animals: five alpaca, three foxes, and an emu. None survived.
After the attack, the jaguar was relocated to a more secure facility while repairs and upgrades could be made to the exhibit.
Valerio will be back in his public habitat Tuesday morning.
