Geourvon Sears, a relative of Mathieu's, is accused of demanding $1.5 million, and later $5 million, and if he failed to pay up, would go public with sexual misconduct allegations.
An affidavit identifies the victim as "TM," a resident of Kansas City. Mathieu recently signed with the Chiefs, and a source familiar with the case tells the Advocate that "TM" refers to Mathieu.
While the nature of the accusations are not specified, Sears is accused of calling and texting Mathieu with the demands.
