The Krewe of Bacchus says Jensen Ackles will reign as the 51st Bacchus.
He is on the TV show Supernatural.
"For fourteen years, Ackles has played the character of Dean Winchester, who teams up with his younger brother Sam (Jared Padalecki) and the angel Castiel (Misha Collins) to battle the forces of darkness on Supernatural," Bacchus officials said in a news release. "In addition to Supernatural, Ackles has also starred in the feature film My Bloody Valentine, and on television in Smallville, Dark Angel, Dawson’s Creek and the miniseries Blonde."
Supernatural is in its 14th season on The CW.
"Ackles joins the ranks of previous Bacchus kings, which include Danny Kaye, Bob Hope, Henry Winkler, Ron Howard, William Shatner, Harry Connick, Jr., Nicolas Cage, Michael Keaton, Andy Garcia, Will Ferrell, Anthony Mackie, J.K. Simmons and many more."
Ackles will lead the parade as Bacchus on Sunday, March 3, 2019.
