The same day Jefferson Parish began a mandatory masks policy, Louisiana's capital announced it will do the same.
"Save a life, save our economy, and wear a face covering," Baton Rouge Mayor Sharon Weston Broome said today during a news conference with Gov. John Bel Edwards.
Broome said she is not interested in having authorities go out and fine people for not wearing masks, but said people could face a misdemeanor summons for being in violation.
"We can save lives, we can save our businesses and our economy, but we have to do it together," she said.
