Louisiana's first female governor will lie in state at the Louisiana Capitol, Thursday.
Thursday morning an interfaith service for Blanco will be held in Baton Rouge at St. Joseph's Cathedral.
Thursday afternoon, Blanco will be placed in the Capitol rotunda with visitation open to the public from 1pm-to-6pm
Friday, a visitation service will be held in St. John the Evangelist Cathedral in Lafayette from 12:30-to-8pm.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at St. John the Evangelist with a private burial to follow.
Only three other top executives of the state have been afforded the privilege since the Capitol opened in 1932. Governor and Senator Huey Long in 1935, Governor Earl Long in 1960, and Governor Dave Treen.
Four others, Grambling State University football coach Eddie Robinson in 2007, state Sen. John Hainkel in 2005, civil rights leader A.Z. Young in 1993 and U.S. Sen. Allen Ellender in 1972, were also were given the honor.
Former Governor Blanco passed Sunday at age 76 in hospice care in Lafayette after battling an incurable cancer.
