Accused former deacon George Brignac makes bail

George Brignac, the 84-year old former deacon, charged with the rape of a child back in the 1980’s is being released on a million dollars bail. 

Brignac was taken into custody on December 13th and charged with the crime. 

He has pleaded not guilty to the charge. 

According to the Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate Brignac was able to get released on a surety bond from a Marrero bail bond agency. 

He will be required to wear an ankle monitor. 

Reportedly a surety bond requires a non-refundable cost of 12-percent or $120,000.

Brignac has faced allegations and charges of molestation since the 1970’s. 

Despite being listed on a roster of clergy suspected of molesting minor, Brignac was still allowed to read masses St. Mary Magdalen in Metairie.
