Thursday is going to be a stormy day for much of Louisiana and the threat of severe weather is a possibility.
Spotty severe weather is a possibility early in the day.
"But the bulk of the rain for most of us will be in the afternoon and evening," said WWL-TV meteorologist Alexandra Cranford. "From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. there is a risk for spotty severe storms possible. 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. that is the roughest bulk of the storm, then after 7 or 8 p.m. it begins to taper off."
Expect damaging wind gusts with winds of 60 plus mph, the threat of tornadoes, possibly EF2 or greater, and golf ball size hail is also a possibility.
11 am – 2 pm: A few isolated storms could form ahead of the main system. There may not be a lot of these early cells, but any that form will have the potential to turn strong to severe.
2 pm – 8 pm: The bulk of the strong storms will happen in this time frame. Much of it may come as a line of strong thunderstorms progressing across the area from west to east especially around 4-6 p.m.
8 pm – 11 pm: The severe threat will be lower, and the rain will gradually come to an end from west to east.
