Today, much of Louisiana enters Phase One of economic recovery and many business owners say they are prepared to serve their customers once again. Dawn Starns, Director of Louisiana’s chapter of the National Federation of Independent Businesses says that’s a good sign.
“I think that is an indicator of how many people, how many businesses are here for their customers saying ‘look we ready for you, we are open, and we are coming back to you.”
But under Governor John Bel Edwards’ Phase One approach, some businesses like Bowling lanes, Casinos and mall stores without exterior entrances remain closed. Starns says that could be dangerous for some businesses.
“He is creating winners and losers in this situation now,” said Starns. “We applauded much of the response at this point and now the rules are constantly changing.”
Starns says despite the rule changes many businesses are prepared to begin serving customers again under Phase One restrictions.
Businesses in Orleans Parish planning to reopen in Phase One tomorrow, must register with the State Fire Marshal at opensafely.la.gov.
