World-famous Café du Monde will reopen this Friday, WWL -TV reports. The coffee and beignets stand will be operating on a take-out-only basis to start.
Unlike the 24-hour, seven-days-a-week operation prior to the pandemic, the French Quarter shop will be on a more limited schedule. They reopen Friday at 10:00 a.m., and after that will be open 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. every day of the week.
Café du Monde used the opportunity of the coronavirus shutdown to undertake some renovations. Company President Jay Roman told WWL-TV they had hoped to reopen earlier this week, but found out at the last minute the new kitchen floor needed "a second coat."
