The U.S. Coast Guard reports it has found the body of a missing kayaker who disappeared near the Bonnabel boat launch this morning, NOLA.com reports.
The Coast Guard said the man had launched his kayak at the Metairie boat launch this morning, but capsized around 9:00 a.m. around 300 feet offshore.
A Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office spokesman said witnesses saw the kayaker trying climb back aboard after capsizing, but he disappeared from view.
The man reportedly was not wearing a life jacket.
