The city crime map shows that in just the last week, there have been 114 reports of vehicle break-ins and theft.
According to the NOPD a number of break-ins happened just after midnight in one gated area around City Park.
"I don't keep anything of value in my car," Mike Garvey who lives at the Esplanade at City Park Apartments told WWL-TV.
Also, surveillance video released by NOPD shows four suspects in Algiers driving around in a stolen vehicle, sifting through cars, even fired two gunshots at a homeowner who caught them in the act.
Police are still looking for the suspects, but they haven't said if the break-ins are connected in any way to those in Mid-City.
New Orleans police are reminding people to protect their property by locking their cars, remove valuables, and never keep firearms or other weapons inside parked cars.
