A few showers began to fall in the metro area Friday night, but the bulk of the rain began after midnight as an area of low pressure developed south of the area. That will bring rounds of light to moderate rain all day Saturday and even into parts of Sunday.
Saturday will be chilly and breezy with highs in the lower to mid 50s. Winds will be highest near the coast where gusts could exceed 40 mph at times. Sunday will also be cool, with highs in the upper 50s. Brief rounds of heavier rainfall are likely, but most the weekend will see a slow steady rain, so flooding isn't expected to be an issue. On average, we expect to pick up between 1-2 inches of rain this weekend with isolated areas picking up a little more.
Things begin to clear and dry by Sunday night. The, an area of high pressure will build over us Monday through Christmas Day. That means plenty of sunshine each day. And, we'll begin to warm up, with high temperatures around 70 Christmas Eve and Day! We'll also have to watch for fog to develop each morning as temperatures warm up.
