New Orleans’ six days of celebration honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. culminates with a march through Central City.

The Commemorative Celebration starts this morning at 9 a.m. at the New Orleans Jazz Market at 1436 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd. The MLK Remembrance March will follow the celebration at 10 a.m.

Expect traffic delays as the march will proceed down Martin Luther King Blvd. in Central City. It will turn left onto South Claibourne Ave. then left on Washington Ave., before ending at A.L. Davis Park.

Temporary no parking zones will be in place along the marching route beginning form 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. today.

"Our theme this year is going to be 'Remember, Celebrate, and Act,' and using this holiday to remember Dr. King's legacy and moving forward with '20-20 vision' throughout this year, where we started a new decade," Mayor LaToya Cantrell said in a press release last week.

MLK events began on Wednesday and will end with a MLK Worship Service at Dillard University on Tuesday.
