The city of New Orleans says shelters in the city have reached full capacity, but the city remains committed to providing relief support to Hurricane Laura evacuees looking for shelter.
Here is what evacuees need to know:
- Those evacuees in the city who still need a shelter are directed to the Alexandria Mega Shelter, 8125 Hwy. 71 South, Alexandria, LA 71302. This information is also available by calling 2-1-1.
- Evacuees can also text WELCOMENOLA to 888777 for information on available resources, services and relief events.
- Tuesday September 1, the City will be continuing a Resource Fair for Evacuees from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, 870 Convention Center Blvd., Hall B.
Services being offered include:
- Prescription assistance
- Tele-health services
- Mental & behavioral health referrals
- Crisis counseling
- Baby & Children's supplies
- Breastfeeding support & formula
- WIC services
- Donated clothing
