The LSU Board of Supervisors has called an audible. The board voted Friday during its regularly scheduled meeting in Alexandria to cancel classes on the Baton Rouge campus Monday and Tuesday, because of the national title game.

Earlier in the week, the university said classes would take place as scheduled.

Board member Ronnie Anderson supported the proposal.

“Not many students are going to school on Monday and those who are involved in the ball game, probably will come on Tuesday, rather than to put them in that kind of the situation, I’ll have to agree,” said Anderson.

LSU interim president Thomas Galligan says he respects the board’s decision, but it causes scheduling issues.

“It’s also a Monday, and the second Monday is Martin Luther King Day, so there won’t be classes that day either, which means for certain Monday classes students in those class would not have those classes until the third week of class,” said Galligan.

But the board voted unanimously to cancel classes on the Baton Rouge campus only for Monday and Tuesday.
