The Coast Guard says 32-year-old Marvin Fuentes from Metairie went missing Sunday about 11:20 a.m. They say Fuentes’ family members tell Coast Guard rescuers that Fuentes went into the water in Grand Isle near the beach water to help his son struggling to swim to shore. After getting his son to shore, they say Fuentes had not returned to shore and was not seen in the water. The Coast Guard is using two rescue boats and two rescue helicopters in their search.
