Cold front to bring wind, rain and chillier conditions

A warm front from the Gulf of Mexico is bringing us highs in the 80s today.  Things will change in a hurry, though.

"A cold front slowly moves into Southeast Louisiana on Thursday," according to WWL-TV Meteorologist Dave Nussbaum.

He says things will get windy today ahead of the front.

"Tonight will be mild and muggy with patchy fog and an isolated shower."

Tomorrow early afternoon could see a few showers.

"By late-afternoon scattered showers and thunderstorms will start moving across the area.... It will be a warm, breezy and humid day with near record highs in the lower 80s."

Nussbaum says the cold front will move through Thursday night into Friday Morning.

"We will have a line of storms with the front that could have brief downpours.  It will turn much cooler with lows in the 50s."

He says Friday will not be a pretty day.

"Friday will be a cool and raw day with plenty of clouds and scattered showers. Upper-level winds will come out of the southwest and a few upper-level waves will pass over us. This will give us some showers throughout the day and into Friday night. High temperatures will only be in the mid 60s."

Weekend Forecast: The southwest flow will continue on Saturday. This will keep us cloudy all day and we will see a few showers during the morning hours.  It will be a chilly day with highs only in the upper 50s. You will need to bundle up if you are headed to the Irish Channel parade!  The weather improves on Sunday with partly cloudy skies, but it stays cool with highs only in the lower 60s. This will be perfect weather for the Metairie Road St. Patrick's Day parade!
