Wild weather swings for the weekend

Our Friday comes with warm temperatures in the 70s, but don't get used to it.  We will see temps plummet after a cold front storms into Southeast Louisiana.

"We will be mostly cloudy and milder with a slight chance for a shower this afternoon," WWL-TV Meteorologist Dave Nussbaum forecasts as we head for a high around 72.  "The strong cold front arrives on Saturday."

He says a squall line of storms will sweep across the area between 8:00am and noon Saturday.

"These storms could be strong to possibly severe... High temperatures will be in the upper 60s before the front and then we will fall into the 50s by the afternoon behind the front. Wind will kick up to 15-25 mph once the front moves through and it will stay windy into Saturday night."

He says as we head into Sunday lows will drop to the 30s on both sides of the lake.

"Sunday will become sunny, but it will be much colder! High temperatures will only be in the upper 40s. It will still be windy, so it will feel like the 30s."

Nussbaum advised you to bundle up if you are headed to tailgate before the Saints game.

"Sunday morning will be in the 30s and feel like the 20s. By Noon it will only be in the mid 40s and will feel like the 30s. Kickoff temperatures will be around the mid 40s with plenty of sun."

We get even colder on Monday with 30s across the region.
