Troopers have arrested two people from Thibodaux for allegedly charging thousands of dollars on credit cards in their grandmother's name.

Troopers with Louisiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division led the probe from the Houma Office.

They received a call "in reference to identity theft and credit card fraud."

Trooper Jesse LaGrange says, "Troopers learned that 30-year-old Megan Hebert and 31-year-old Roger Thibodaux Jr., both of Thibodaux, had stolen the identity of their grandmother and obtained several credit cards in her name."

He says the two opened multiple accounts and made fraudulent purchases.

Police did not say specifically what the grandchildren purchased, but did say the items cost thousands of dollars.

"As a result of the investigation, LSP-CID obtained arrest warrants for both individuals in Lafourche Parish charging them with theft over $5,000.00, identity theft of the infirmed, exploitation of the infirmed, and bank fraud."

Hebert turned herself in. She was booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center.

Houma Police arrested Thibodaux for unrelated drug charges.

"While Thibodaux was incarcerated at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Center, he was booked on the LSP-CID warrants and is awaiting extradition to Lafourche Parish."
