Coronavirus spread concerns closes Lakeshore Drive

Crowds of people out for Sunday may gather in numbers more than 50

Automobiles are being banned along Lakeshore Drive.  According to a release from Flood Protection Authority Lakeshore Drive from Seabrook Bridge along the lake front to Franklin Ave is closed. 

Also closed is Lakeshore from Elysian Fields to Pratt from the Western edge of Lake Oaks Park through the area along London Park.

And Lakeshore from Rail Avenue through Canal Boulevard to Shelter #1 are all closed to vehicular traffic.

Individuals who ride bikes and walkers/runners still have access to the area.

This measure is taking place in accordance with the request of Gov. John Bel Edwards and leadership of the City of New Orleans to reduce large gatherings and crowds to slow the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus).

The Flood Control Authority will alert the public once the roadway opens again to vehicle traffic.
