Orleans: No deaths since Tuesday, Jefferson: No deaths since Thursday

Second day in row: No new deaths overnight!
LDH

For the second day in a row, there have been no new deaths reported in Orleans or Jefferson Parish by the Louisiana Department of Health from the COVID-19 coronavirus.

This continues a streak by Orleans Parish which has not seen a person succumb to COVID-19 since Wednesday, after losing six people on Tuesday.  Jefferson Parish reported its last death on Thrusday, so it has gone two days with a passing.

This is the longest stretch for each parish since the virus was first reported.

The state reports a total of 37,040 overall confirmed cases of coronavirus.

That represents a growth of 115 cases from Friday's 36,925, with five new cases reported in Orleans Parish.

There are 836 patients hospitalized in state.

Overall 2,560 people have succumb to the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic.

Looking at the month of May, Louisiana is reporting an average below 400 cases per day.

Complicating the matter is the reporting of older tests in recent days which has lead to increases in numbers based off past data.

More than 26,000 people have recovered from the disease.
