Crawfish still pricey as we salivate in anticipation of spring

At the LSU Ag Center, crawfish expert Dr. Greg Lutz says we really aren't in season yet.

"We cannot get those crawfish out of the pond unless they cooperate and move into the traps,'' said Lutz.

The mudbugs cooperate with temperatures that are warmer, like highs in the 70s and lows in the 60s.

But, they can be found  -- you just might have to do some hunting around.

"I would get on the phone or actually go visit some of these places in person and make arrangements for whatever they get, so you can get some of them," Lutz said.

Lutz also looks ahead to March and April, when he says they should be in abundance.
